Meet Our Wellness Associates

Carla Barrett, Licensed Massage Therapist
Carla offers improvement in mobility and pain relief without causing undue pain or soreness. She integrates her training, experience and intuition to provide a unique massage tailored to your physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Carla's years of experience, continued study, and vision of wellness have proven helpful to people far and wide.

Owner and founder of Carla's Wellness Center, Carla has been practicing the therapeutic massage since 1999. Intrigued by the healing power of all different types of alternative therapies, the vision of the Wellness Center began.

Believing that people are "touched by" or "open to" healing information (in their bodies and their minds) in as varied ways as there are techniques to do so, Carla began connecting with other bodyworkers. Carla's Wellness Center now offers more than 10 different modalities or techniques to help people identify what works for them. The Wellness Center also partners with other alternative therapy workers. "If we don't offer what you need, we can usually make a good referral for Feldenkris, Irrodology, Acupuncture, and other therapies." Our goal is to help you find the alternative therapies that work for you.

Hoping to reach anyone seeking information about wellness techniques, Carla makes presentations to groups, clubs, businesses and schools to educate those interested in taking responsibility for creating their own wellness.

Steven Newlin, Licensed Massage Therapist
Tuina (tway naw) is an Oriental Bodywork Therapy that has been used in China for 2,000 years. It uses the traditional Chinese medical theory of the flow of Qi through the meridins as its basic therapeutic orientation. Tuina has a variety of different systems that emphasize particular aspects of the therapeutic principles. The main schools in China include: the rolling method school, which emphasizes soft tissue techniques and specializes in joint injuries and muscle sprains; the one finger pushing method school which emphasizes techniques for acupressure and the treatment of internal diseases; and the Nei Gung method school which emphasizes the use of Nei Gong Qi energy generation exercises and specific massage methods for revitalizing depleted energy systems.

In a typical session the client, wearing loose clothing and no shoes, lies on a table or sits on a stool. The practitioner examines the specific problems of the client and begins to apply a specific treatment protocol. The major focus of application is upon specific pain sites, acupressure points, energy meridians, and muscles and joints. Some Tuina practitioners may also use Chinese herbs to facilitate quicker healing.

Sessions last from 30-60 minutes. Clients may return for additional treatments depending on their specific problems. Clients usually feel relaxed, but energized, by the treatment.

Johnny Sharpe, Licensed Massage Therapist

Johnny is a native Californian, has lived in the Columbus area since 2006. He brings his distinct style and abilities to massage therapy in an attempt to help people find their own way toward wholeness. “While traditional medicine certainly has it’s place, I’m always amazed at the improvement most clients see within a few sessions. Many times I can isolate the distinct muscle that is the trigger for their pain”. He says. “One of my greatest rewards is seeing clients improve over time and resume activities that were once impossible.” Johnny is the proud father of two daughters, Katlin and Rowan.

Discover Wisdom from Within

Sondra Bolte, Alphabioticist
Sondra Bolte is a Certified Alphabioticist and has had extensive training with Drs. Virgil and Michael Chrane of Menard and Dallas, Texas. This process was discovered and perfected by Virgil's father over many years of performing it and staying attuned himself to a greater wisdom and power. Sondra has been certified by the Board of Directors of International Alphabiotics Association (IAA). She does this work because she has found Alphabiotic Alignments to be very effective and helpful in her own life.

Sondra has been doing Alignments since 1998 and is a member of the IAA. She can perform Alignments for others who are also members of this private association.

Lisa Segall, Energy Practitioner & Holistic Health Coach
Healing Touch and Reiki are two styles of energy therapy that I integrate to help restore balance and harmony in the energy system, which supports the natural healing process. I use my hands to balance and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of my clients which helps them relax, balance and heal. Energy therapy works well with all other therapies.

I’m very passionate about helping others heal because I know what it’s like to be stressed, tired and in pain. I used to have fibromyalgia, migraines and a host of other health challenges. Once I took control of my health, I was able to leave those illnesses in the past. Now it’s time to use my knowledge and experience to help others like you heal. I look forward to helping you on your journey of healing. (www.lisasegall.com)
